01
Bandage Care
- Leave bandage on for 3-5 days.
- Remove bandage in the shower.
- Pull bandage up and away from skin, like removing a Command strip, not across the tattoo.
Fluid buildup, including blood, plasma, and ink under the bandage, is normal.
Note for large or high-saturation pieces
Bigger, high-saturation tattoos can weep more than usual. If that happens, a wrap change the following morning may be needed to avoid fluid buildup. If so, we'll send you home with Saniderm strips so you can do that first change yourself, then continue aftercare as normal.
02
Cleaning
- After removing bandage, wash tattoo with Dove or Ivory bar soap until all residue is gone.
- Pat dry with a clean towel, then allow to air dry.
- Continue washing once daily in the shower with the same soap.
03
Moisturizing
- Once tattoo begins to flake, moisturize as needed.
- Use Aveeno, Lubriderm, or CeraVe, all unscented.
- Less is more. Do not over-moisturize.
04
What To Avoid
- Sun exposure for 30 days. As little as 3 minutes of direct sun can cause permanent scarring.
- Swimming or submerging tattoo for 10-14 days.
- Ointments or petroleum-based products, which suffocate the skin and slow healing.
- Do not reapply bandage after the initial 3-5 day period.
